This letter-writing contest is open to students in three categories throughout the
Three competition levels are open to students:
- Level I - grades 6 through 8
- Level II - grades 9 through 12
- Level III - students enrolled in post-secondary schools (i.e. community college, junior college, technical school or university).
To enter, students should write a persuasive letter to the business or government leader of your choice that convinces him or her to consider the long-term impact on the planet when making product, service or policy decisions.
Letters must be between 600 and 1,000 words.
Sample topics:
- Why is sustainability important to you and your future?
- What are you doing or would like to do in the future to make buildings, consumer choices, or transportation more sustainable?
- How can leaders create greater value for consumers or citizens with less impact?
- What criteria should business or government leaders use to make sure their decisions or products are sustainable?
- Or the topic of your choice.
Winners and their families will also receive passes to the Discover Brilliant International Conference and Expo in
